I am currently an intern at My Mini Factory, which is a 3D Printing company. I am involved in the ‘Scan the World’ project which aims to scan every sculpture ever created and ensure that they are downloadable and accessible to everyone. These scans can then be printed by anyone who has a 3D printer, meaning you can have your very own version of a Michelangelo in your living room or any of your favourite artists and sculptors.
But we need your help! There are thousands of sculptures all over the world, some more accessible than others. This is where you come in. To scan a sculpture is easier than you think. We simply need an overall image of the sculpture through a series of photographs. Tips on the types of images we need can be found via this link
www.myminifactory.com/pages/sc…. Once you have submitted your scan and a digital 3D model is created, the printing can begin.
This project has a huge amount of potential and has so many different uses and benefits including; bringing arts to the masses, education and increased exposure for artists. Become a part of this unique project and scan the sculptures in your world.
